UK Business Manager required for Full time staff position in London, UK. Must have experience in Freight forwarding, leading major contracts, programme management and commercial operations.
Overall Role Purpose
To provide leadership and programme management for major international Industrial Projects. To provide programme management and commercial operations management expertise so as to strengthen the existing operations, and position the business unit for future growth. Crucial to managing for the profitability of the business unit and provide the programme management, project staffing, financial and administrative management leadership for the organization and act as the executive point of contact for all business unit activities reporting at Board level. Full P&L responsibility for a set of large projects.
Customer
External/ Internal
Develop and implement key customer commercial strategies (short and long-term) and gain buy-in from customer
Successful implementation of new and additional business to meet internal and customer expectations.
Develop alternative solutions and formulate commercial and contractual proposals
Develop and implement work with product directors and European colleagues to ensure a growth in customer relationships including outside of own region, as necessary.
Oversee and approve the bid development process and negotiations with the customer/ client in order to deliver service solutions and win contracts that meet customer/client specifications and requirements at a defined level of commercial gain to the company.
Project Management
Assures safe project to the client's satisfaction, consistent with cost, schedule and contractual requirements.
Accountable for overall project delivery to time and budget as well as expected results for HSE and client satisfaction.
Assures the project execution is in accordance with policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the Company.
Manages and coordinates activities of all project personnel by direct supervision or through subordinates
Ensures the project execution is planned, that the plan is revised as necessary and assures adherence to the plan.
Ensures the client and company advised of project status.
Process
Ensure operational targets are met and take short to medium term actions to reverse areas of underperformance
Ensure departmental shipment processing is executed in line with quality & safety procedures
Produce departmental/regional management reports and attend management meetings as requested
Manage resources and budgets needed to achieve operational targets
Manage, participate in and lead meetings to achieve business results
Ensure safety and hygiene standards are met i.e. ensure that all departmental/regional risk assessments have been carried out
Implement processes and systems to effectively manage risk
Implementation of appropriate commercial and contractual controls across the projects teams in order to effectively manage risk and maximise financial return
Set up and oversee internal processes to ensure all financial and administrative activities comply with the Company's standards, at all times.
IT Generalist knowledge - Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
Experience of working with all modes of transport ( including rivers and railways) and heavy lift operations.
Demonstrate experience of leading major contracts/projects from planning phase to start-up through to completion.
Strong inter-personal skills.
Experience with client interaction at all levels.
Strong team work skills.
Strong communication skills with ability to ensure follow through and delivery.
Excellent understanding of British culture and minimum 5 years experience in UK (if candidates are not UK citizens)
